One of the oldest churches of Christians, the name of the building is found in the church catalogs of Trifon Karabeynikov and Paterakis. The church is in a high-walled courtyard two meters below the road on the northern side of a slope. In this Byzantine church, Paulus, the patriarch of the Antakya patriot who came to Istanbul in 1652, referred to it as “a dome of Byzantine basilica with many precious icons.”
The church is located in Samatya/Istanbul, between Gen. A. Nafiz Gurman Street and Büyük Kuleli Caddesi.
